Employment
The proposals will add new jobs, particularly in the retail facilities. Job opportunities will also be available in the Jurassic Coast Visitors’ Centre. Estimates taken from assessing the Masterplan, which includes other development areas, suggest that 340 jobs could be created.
Support Services
The development will provide funding for any lack of capacity in education and health facilities to be made good. In particular, contributions will be made to the County Council to enable local schools to cope with the numbers of children likely to come from the new housing.
The same will happen with the Primary Care Trust for health facilities.
Existing children’s play areas and open space located off The Underfleet will be retained. It is also proposed to have a community facility within the Jurassic Coast Visitors’ Centre, the use of which will be determined locally. There will be no replacement swimming pool as the costs of building and maintaining a new pool would use up a large proportion of the funds being made available for other public benefit.
